This is what I call "modern early American." In the Colonial era, kitchens were generally back rooms where the cabinets were austere. On the other hand,the main room or living room furniture often included elegant pieces , with inlay , crotch mahogany and marquetry. Since the modern kitchen now plays a more central role in our homes, wouldn't it make sense to incorporate some of these elements  into kitchen designs , especially in homes built in early America?
